Miss Sophie
Every time we met someone new in Germany and told them Sophie's name
the response was "ahh, Miss Sophie!" which got a bit weird after a
while. Then we found out what it was all about. Click the link below the picture to see the 10 minute video.

Same procedure as last year Miss Sophie?
"The sketch was originally performed in the 1920's in the
British music halls. The 15 minute sketch is performed by Freddie
Frinton and May Warden, and was filmed by NDR in Hamburg in 1963. In
the early 1970's it became a regular part of the German New Years Eve
celebrations.Over the years somehow, it has become a cult classic in
Germany - to the extent that its shown on almost all the regional
channels at some point during over New Year, and NDR shows it 6 or 7
times during New Year's Eve! Even one of the commercial stations will
find a slot to show it in such is the popularity of the sketch. But its
hardly known in the place it originated from - the UK."

Sorry for my laziness. Finally some Christmas piccies!
What time is it? Tweenie Clock! Mucking around yesterday with Playdoh - how's this for a fancy watch and jewellry!

Quite some news since my last update. Started a new job last week. My
previous company died on it's arse in November but they were a weird
bunch anyway so receivership is good enough for them. Now I'm working
in Harrogate and at the end of the first week I'm enjoying myself!
Harrogate is a nice town so hopefully we will move over there soon.
Some Christmas pics as promised:
One good side of losing your job just before Christmas is the long
holiday!
Putting young Billy to bed, whether he wanted to or not......

With Grandad Billy!

Christmas morning on the beach at Laytown while Mum goes for a run:

At Christmas dinner. Eating dry turkey and ham. We cooked Christmas
dinner for the first time ourselves and had Owen and Fionnuala over.
First Christmas I didn't stuff myself silly!

Very, very late update.
On the day, or day before my little sister Helen, has her first kiddie,
I thought Sophie should have one last grab of the limelight before she
has to share her grandparents affections! All grown up looking here,
she grabbed some of mummy's accessories before heading out for a little
shopping.

Another farm visit.
This time Newgrange farm in Meath - home on holidays to visit Mimi and
Dandans (current names for the grandparents, subject to change, on a
whim.) Farm itself was a bit rubbish with a laid back farmer manning
the gate from his 4X4 letting the cash roll in. Some nice stuff there,
weird chickens and stuff, but no signs to explain what breed or
anything. Not a patch on the one in Yorkshire last month.
Anyway if Sophie was disappointed by the educational shortcomings she
was polite enough not to refer to it. Every animal not fast enough to out
run her got a "nice hug".

Bank Holiday weekend with Helen and Marc
Helen is now 6 months pregnant and looking great. We thought we'd visit
Helen and Marc over the bank holiday weekend and give them an idea what
it's like having a wain running around the place! Here are a few
pictures.

A visit to the farm today
Sophie was a little nervous to start with - those pigs are a little
bigger than a child might expect! But she got into it pretty quickly,
feeding the cows and outrunning the goats.

Tattoos already??
And taking up basketball. She'll be wearing hoodies next. Got a bit
distracted while she was doing some drawing and gave her just enough
time to scrawl all over her arm! Washed off easily but the bathroom was
multicoloured for a while.
